First Quarterly Friends of STJ Track & Field Meeting

On Thursday June 5th the first Friends of St John's Track & Field meeting was held in Carnesecca arena. In attendance:

• Joe Carpenter - class of 62
• Tom Celandine - class of 62
• Martin Nutty - class of 88
• Ed Joyce - class of 59
• Bill Boyle - STJ Prof of Philosophy

Topics Discussed:

1. Review of Track season and upcoming season
   
2. Proposed annual events: Fall Festival, Big East Indoor, Reebok Grand Prix outdoor. These events correspond to the Cross Country, Indoor, Outdoor track schedule
   
3. Tom Farrell Nite: Scheduled for November 12th. The function will serve 2 purposes: a) Honor Tom's achievements on the Track 40 years after his medal in the Mexico Olympic Games and to raise money for the Track and Field program. Target money being raised is 40k. The event will consist of a presentation and Q & A on Tom's career and a reception afterwards. Please be sure to Mark your calendar for the big night.

The meetings are designed for Friends to:

• Get together
• Get an update on the STJ Track & field program
• Have fun along with drinks and food
• Be less then 2 hours

The next meeting will be held on Saturday September 13th. We will alternate each meeting with a weekday night night and weekend day.
